After installing Snow Leopard, (may or may not be a coincidence) I cannot access a Western Digital My Book World Edition (blue rings) through my network. It appears in the Shared sidebar, but when I click on it PUBLIC does not appear. The connection fails. However, I can log in to the admin at http://mybookworld.local./ and see the IP address, percentage of space used, etc. I can change the workgroup name, create a new user, and change (tried mybookworld2) and I still cannot log in. I tried creating a new user. Getting a similar error when trying to access through a Windows machine. Tried connecting via Connect to a Server using smb:mybookworld/PUBLIC, same thing. I tried resetting it by holding the reset button while reconnecting the power. It sill cost between $699 and $2000 to get the data recovered by a specialist. But it seems like there should be some sort of solution.

My other dilemma is trying to install Snow Leopard Hackintosh. I used nawcom’s mod cd solution which uses Chameleon boot loader. It is a burned a CD from an .iso, boot with it, then remove it and insert the retail Snow Leopard DVD. The motherboard is an Intel D865GLC and the processor is a 478 Pentium 4 hyper threaded. I successfully installed but when I boot I get this error screen. I can enter some Unix commands before the boot starts to troubleshot but I don’t know what they could be.

Can anyone lend me a hand?

Update: I was able to recover my data and get SL installed on two machines!
